NST : MBPJ expecting tough battle against UiTM

KUALA LUMPUR: Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) are expected to face a torrid time when they play Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in the quarter-finals of the President's Cup at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Tuesday.

The university side were unbeaten en route to winning the Division One title.

MBPJ Tigers team manager Norazizah Mukijan said her team have a young squad and will start as the underdogs.

"We have 10 juniors in the team and they are playing for exposure.”

“As for UiTM, they are an established side who recently won the league title while it is only our second appearance in the competition," said Norazizah.

Last year, MBPJ failed to reach the quarter-finals.

"It is unfortunate that we have been drawn against the strongest team in the quarter-finals," said Norazizah, who was also the team manager last year.

In the other quarter-finals, Division One runners-up Politeknik will start as the favourites against Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) while Kedah, with six foreign players, play Penang.

Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports (SSTMI) will battle Ipoh City Council in the other last-eight match.
