NST : We need video umpiring
KUALA LUMPUR: KL Hockey Club (KLHC) coach Lim Chiow Chuan was fuming with the umpires after the 2-1 defeat to Terengganu Hockey Team (THT) in Friday’s Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) Premier Division match.
THT’s victory saw them wresting the Premier Division title from KLHC.
"We lost because of poor umpiring. It would have been different had there was video umpiring in the tournament.
“I hope the organisers will consider investing on a video umpiring system in the future," said Chiow Chuan.
Chiow Chuan's side were leading 1-0 but things did not go smoothly when the umpire made a mistake.
The umpire blew against KLHC's Jang Jong-hyun for time-wasting when the South Korean was getting ready for a free hit.
THT immediately took the opportunity to attack and equalised through Faizal Saari. Argentine Lopez Barreiros scored the winning goal minutes later.
"That was the turning point of the game. Poor umpiring denied us glory.
“Video umpiring should be made available for crucial matches," said Chiow Chuan.
