NST : Perak bounce back from difficult start in Under-16 tournament
Perak coach Abdul Sukur Adam was stressed up as his team only showed up after the breather in the 2-0 win over Perlis in a National Under-16 Group A match at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Saturday.
The defending champions netted their opening goal through Farhan Haziq Rahimi in the 39th minute before Amirul Haniff Mamat scored a second in the 57th minute.
"It was stressful as my team did not play to their ability. I believe they will improve after today’s win and there is no need to press the panic button yet," said Abdul Sukor.
Perak play Negri Sembilan in their second match on Sunday.
"Things were difficult before Farhan’s goal as we only had 10 minutes to warm up due to the rain and the heavy pitch also made it tough to execute our penalty corners.
"But with the first match jitters over, I believe we can mount a serious challenge to defend our title.
“The target is to win our fifth Under-16 crown," said Abdul Sukur.
