NST : UiTM reach President's Cup final
KUALA LUMPUR: Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) reached the final of the President’s Cup final following a 3-2 win over Ipoh City Council at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil on Thursday.
UiTM, who won the Malaysia Hockey League Division One competition, will play Kedah/Politeknik for the title on Saturday.
Nor Aqmal Abdul Gaffar (32nd minute), Shahfirul Aqmal Saiful (44th), Haikal Abd Mutalib (56th) netted for UiTM while Ipoh replied through Hafizal Halmi (33rd) and Danial Aizat Ahmad Zubir (59th).
“Ipoh players were determined to win today and they made it tough for us,” said UiTM coach K. Gobinathan.
“We were wasteful in the match. But it does not matter as we are in the final.”
“I have reminded my players not to be overconfident in the final.”
